Deposit Waivers

TXU Energy has several other options to satisfy a deposit requirement.

NOTE: TXU Energy must be able to verify the customer’s age to qualify.

If a customer has prior debt, they forfeit the right to deposit waiver for 55+/CBC.

If the customer was previously with TXU, they must still be within good standing for CBC eligibility (i.e. no prior debt)


  • 55 Years and Older

    • Military Waiver

    • Current Bill Customer

    • Pre-Approved – Lead List

    • Reference Letter

    • Family Violence

    • Medically Indigent

Customers over 55 –

  • A deposit may be automatically waived if using a TX ID, Driver’s license, or other state ID. 

  • They can also use a Matricula Consular or Passport from another country.

  • If using a Matricula or other ID type, the customer must submit a copy of the ID used to D2DSWAT@txu.com to validate and waive the deposit.

CBC – a customer can use their electricity bill to have their deposit waived.

  • The bill must match the name of the account holder or spouse.

  • The bill must be within the last 30 days.

  • No past due or disconnect balance over $10.

  • No previous balance carryover.

  • 6 months with their current REP.

  • Same premise

  • Customer must email D2DSWAT@txu.com to validate and waive the deposit.

Letter of Credit –

  • A letter of credit from their current REP in their name or spouse.

  • No disconnect or termination notices within the last 12 months.

  • D2DSWAT@txu.com to validate and waive the deposit.

Allow 24 to 48 hours to waive deposits.
